Terms & Conditions
Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions
By purchasing a cake, cupcakes or cupcake bouquet from Keys Cake Bakery whether via email, social media or from our online shop, it is assumed that you have read and accept these terms and conditions in full. A copy will be emailed to you when your order is confirmed.
Payment in full on ordering
Unless otherwise advised (see below regarding deposits), for all orders made through any medium, payment will be taken in full on ordering.
Payment should be made in full to Keys Cake Bakery, sort code 80-22-60, account number 22099666 (Bank of Scotland).
Your order, including date and time for collection, will not be confirmed or entered into the diary until full payment has been received. Please note that if there is a delay between submitting an order and making payment in full, we cannot guarantee that the requested date for collection will still be available. If your desired collection date is no longer available when payment is received, we will advise you of that as soon as possible and if we cannot provide an alternative date which is suitable to all parties, a full refund will be provided.
Collection
All cakes and cupcakes are made to order and available for collection only from Keys Cake Bakery, 23 Beverley Road, Glasgow G43 2RW. With the exception of tiered cakes, we do not deliver. The delivery charge for tiered cakes will be confirmed at the point of ordering.
Any orders which are not collected on the due date due to sickness or exceptional circumstances are refundable only at Keys Cake Bakery’s sole discretion. We reserve the right to refuse a refund of any order.
Once a collection date and time has been selected, you must adhere to that and collect your order on time. Any rescheduled collection time will be at Keys Cake Bakery’s sole discretion and cannot be guaranteed under any circumstances.
Due to the perishable nature of our cupcakes, they should be consumed within 2 days. There will be a best before sticker on your box. Large cakes keep for approximately 3 days and any leftovers should be wrapped in cling film or kept in an airtight container. Our cakes do not contain any preservatives.
Deposits
In certain limited circumstances, we will take a deposit for a cake and/or cupcakes. This is usually in circumstances where the collection date is many months from the date of ordering or where the cupcakes/cakes are for weddings, which are normally booked months in advance. We do not take deposits for any orders, including weddings, where the collection date is less than 3 months away from the order date. Where a deposit is applicable, we will advise you in writing of the amount of the deposit due upon booking to secure the date, the amount of the balance and when it is payable. Typically, the deposit will be 25% of the order amount with the 75% balance being due no later than 4 weeks before the collection/delivery date.
All deposits are non-refundable.
Alterations to orders
No alterations to cupcake orders can be made within 7 days prior to the collection date. For cake orders, no alterations can be made within 14 days prior to the collection/delivery date.
Storage of cupcakes and cakes
As refrigeration can alter the flavour and texture of cupcakes, you should store them in a cool, dry place and not the fridge. Please see our cupcake care guide for further information (a copy will be provided on ordering).
Buttercream cakes must also be kept cool and away from direct heat sources like radiators and sunlight. If it is not possible to keep your buttercream cake in a temperature of less than 20 degrees centigrade, it should be kept in the fridge and removed 1.5 hours before eating to come to room temperature. The difference in temperature between fridge and room temperature may cause condensation on the cake, which cannot be avoided. Please refer to our buttercream cake care guide for further details (a copy will be provided in advance of collection).
Fondant topped cupcakes and cakes must never be stored in the fridge as it will make the fondant sticky/slimy. Both must be kept in a cool room, away from direct sunlight or radiators etc. A fondant cake care guide will be provided on collection and will contain details on any items which are not edible, for example, cocktail sticks holding models together.
Transporting your cupcakes/cakes
The best place for your cupcakes and cakes is on the floor on the passenger side of the car with nothing on the seat above. Larger cakes can be transported in the boot of the car provided something is used to anchor the box so that it doesn’t move around.
The car should be kept cool at all times. Cakes and cupcakes must never be left in a warm car, even for a few minutes. Further information will be provided upon collection.
Damage to cakes/cupcakes
Once cupcakes and/or cakes are in the customer's possession it is their responsibility and Keys Cake Bakery is not responsible for any damage to the cupcakes or cakes after they have been collected.
Allergies
Any allergies must be declared at the time of placing your order. Keys Cake Bakery has no responsibility or liability for any food allergies or reactions that are not declared at time of purchase.
All cupcake and cake flavours contain milk (butter), eggs and gluten. Some products used, for example, fondant and modelling paste, state that they may contain nuts and soy.
We have most common allergens in our kitchen and so cannot eliminate the risk of trace allergens being present. This includes: eggs, fish, lupin, milk, mustard, peanuts, sesame, soya, tree nuts, gluten, celery & celeriac, sulphur dioxide and crustaceans.
I cannot accommodate allergies which result in anaphylaxis or serious illness. Anyone with a nut allergy who cannot accept the risk of trace nuts being present must not consume our cakes.
Cupcakes and cakes containing non-gluten products are available. However, we do not have a gluten free kitchen and therefore cannot eliminate the risk of cross contamination with gluten containing ingredients. If that risk is not acceptable, then we cannot provide non-gluten cakes and cupcakes.
Consistency
Due to the nature of our products we cannot always guarantee 100% uniformity in colours from order to order and separate batches may vary slightly. However, we always endeavour to provide consistency and orders will be similar.
Different sized cakes/cupcakes/bouquets contain different variants of design and colours. Final design specifications are at Keys Cake Bakery’s discretion.
Complaints
If you are in any way unhappy with your order, please inform us promptly so that we can rectify any issues in a timely fashion. Refunds or replacements cannot be issued without return of the product.
